This year has seen a significant period of growth for ORCA, and as a result, we’re looking for a talented and passionate mid-weight creative to join our team.

About you

You should eat, sleep and breathe design. You should be continually looking to try new things and push creative boundaries. You should also be fun – we like to have fun while we work and it’s reflected in the design we produce!

The role

  • Support lead and junior designers
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Complete a variety of brand identity projects, from conception to rollout
  • Work on complex UI projects, digital products and full design systems
  • Work on a variety of other illustration, typography, editorial and digital design tasks
  • Engage and lead the team through brainstorm, sketch and verbal sessions
  • Put together strong concepts with clear reasoning and supporting explanation
  • Create design presentations
  • Present concepts to the internal team and to clients at meetings
  • Balance time management in line with studio requirements
  • Liaise with clients as required to answer design questions and/or provide specific direction
  • Assist and mentor interns

Essential requirements

  • Diverse portfolio
  • Up-to-date knowledge of essential design software
  • 2+ years experience of working in a creative agency
  • A detailed understanding of the principles of good UI/UX design
  • A good understanding of producing digital guidelines, style tiles, UI kits and design systems
  • Experience with print based projects and the knowledge of document setup, best practices, and methods
  • An active digital presence across design communities

ORCA seek a full-stack web developer to join our close-knit, passionate and ambitious team.

2018 sees further expansion for our agency. With a wealth of new digital and development opportunities knocking at the door, we’re looking to add another brilliant developer to the team.

The role

  • Managing all of Orca’s internal and external sites
  • Confident working with and customising WordPress, Woocommerce and Shopify template development
  • Full Stack developer, comfortable writing both backend and frontend code as well as working with API systems like REST or cURL
  • Contributing to the technical scoping of projects in both estimation & discovery phases
  • Comfortable using GIT (command line experience is ideal but not required)
  • Knowledge of developer tools such as CodeKit or PrePros
  • Knowledge of templating languages like SASS, Stylus, HAML and CoffeeScript
  • Overseeing the completion of regular backups of website files and databases
  • Creating detailed written website guides for clients

Essential requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years experience in full stack development for medium to large clients
  • Qualifications in computer science or related field
  • Portfolio of previous website accomplishments – must be heavily design-lead – a keen eye on modern design trends is imperative
  • Ability to speak confidently about your ideas and processes to the team and to clients
  • Proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite and Sketch
