As it’s Living Wage week we wanted to let our current and future employees know about our stance on the real Living Wage.
We’re happy to announce that we’re an accredited Living Wage Employer. That means that we believe a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay.
We know how hard it is, especially for young people getting into the design industry to pay their way and we don’t agree with asking people to work an internship for free.
Whether you’ve just finished university at the ripe old age of 18 or if you’re moving into a new career path it’s simply not a viable way to live. It can be especially difficult and cause tough times for those who have to travel further than a walk to work and who have rent and bills to pay. It can affect so many different aspects of life from general money worries, less time with families and friends and can all build up to have a detrimental effect on one’s mental health, and we don’t want that!
At ORCA, we want our employees to be happy, to enjoy coming to work and to have a great time doing it. Fair pay is just one of the ways we try to achieve this. If you’ve ever worked with our team you’ll know what a close-knit bunch we are and that each of us really enjoys what we do. We’ve managed to achieve this through generally just being nice, wonderful people and also through our work ethos which includes a fair wage! Thus we became accredited as a real Living Wage employer.
